Your resident Showit brand and web designer. I've helped dozens of creatives stand out online and create a sustainable digital presence.
I used to be a loyal Loom user. It’s a common platform for entrepreneurs to send short recordings to clients, and I used it for that, too. It worked for my business for a while, but as I began to record more dynamic content for my clients, course content, and summit presentations, I wanted a more comprehensive tool. I researched other platforms and found Tella TV.
Tella is a screen recording platform that helps you edit audio and video clips. It was super easy to learn, and I’ve discovered so many use cases for the tool in my business. If you’ve been looking for an alternative to Loom, continue reading my Tella review to see if it’s the right platform for you!
With so many screen recording platforms available, choosing the one that’s right for your business can be hard. What makes Tella TV different from the rest?
In my experience, Tella has a lot more editing capabilities in the app. You can choose from various video layout options. For example, maybe in one clip, I want to share my entire screen, but in another clip, I want my face to be in a little bubble in the lower right-hand corner. I can choose layouts based on my preferences and the situation.
One of my favorite features is being able to crop your screen however you like. Have a million tabs open and don’t want to close them all out before recording? Just adjust your cropping settings after recording so viewers can only see the parts of your screen you want them to.
Tella also allows you to edit audio clips within the platform. If you accidentally lean away from your microphone while speaking, you can adjust the audio so no one notices a dip in volume.
I also like that Tella allows you to repurpose video clips into social media videos, such as Reels or YouTube Shorts. It automatically resizes your videos to fit the dimensions different social media platforms require. It makes repurposing content super easy!
Something that’s helpful for me is that I don’t have to record a video in a single take. I usually have to edit my videos because I lose my train of thought or explain something in a confusing way – I can stop my recording, cut out the parts I don’t want to include, and start the recording again. All it takes are a few clicks! There’s no pressure to get it right on the first try (or re-record 100 times!)
Have you ever recorded a video and not realized there’s something in the background you don’t want? I have! Luckily, I can edit it out in Tella. You can add filters to your background if you want or remove things you don’t want in your video. You can even change the background color of the screen behind your video content and/or front facing camera content right in Tella – hello instantly branded videos!
I use Tella TV for all my client drafts. When I finish a website design draft, I create a Tella video to show them my work and explain the features I added. It’s much easier to explain and show my clients on a video than try to type it out or have them explore themselves. I can walk them through my strategy and purposeful design.
I also use Tella to give my clients tutorials! I don’t leave them hanging after they work with me on website design. I provide Showit tutorials to help them make edits to their website in the future.
My online courses are coming veeeery soon, and I’m so excited to share them with you! I recorded all the content in Tella. I could have used Zoom, Loom, or another platform, but Tella just makes things so much easier. I personally think the finished video looks nicer, too. And I want to provide the very best content for you! I’m sure you’ve taken online courses before that looks like it was recorded on an iPhone. It’s distracting and unprofessional. So I chose Tella to make sure you have a great experience in my SEO and Pinterest courses.

Tella is perfect for small business owners, course creators, and creative entrepreneurs. If you consistently create video content, Tella is a tool you need in your arsenal. It would be great for podcasters repurposing their episodes on YouTube or Instagram. Or web designers who send screen recordings of their drafts to clients (like me!) Or a coach who sends feedback to their students. Honestly, the possibilities with Tella are endless!
Tella TV is the way to go, no matter what your use case is for screen recording software. I’ve had nothing but a great experience using it for my business. I hope my Tella review was helpful!
