If you’re a photographer, Pinterest was essentially made for you. As a visual search engine, Pinterest combines the best elements of an image-driven social media feed and the SEO-driven algorithm of search-based platforms like Google into one place. Where’s the first place a newly engaged bride goes to plan her wedding? Pinterest. And here’s the best part – while every photographer and their mother has an Instagram account for their biz, the competition on Pinterest for the same niche? SIGNIFICANTLY less.
I put together this Pinterest case study on my client Lauren. She has seen incredible results from our time working together. I wanted to brag on her and show you how Pinterest can be an incredible marketing tool for your business.

Meet Lauren of Stratman Imagery. Lauren’s romantic, documentary, editorial style sets her apart from a sea of bright and airy photogs. She’s based in North Carolina but loves traveling to NYC for frequent trips. Her love and knowledge of the city made her want to start shooting more elopements and micro weddings in this incredible city.
But with most of her client base and marketing focused in NC up until now, attracting couples getting engaged and married in NYC presented a challenge.
Lauren had already created a Pinterest account for her business, but keeping up with daily pins had been exhausting. She was ready to start attracting more luxury clients in a new market and saw the potential in Pinterest to get her there. The problem? She wasn’t sure of how to actually get the attention of those right-fit leads on the platform.
My first step in optimizing Lauren’s account was identifying her target markets. In her case, she wanted to keep booking weddings in North Carolina, but also start traveling to NYC more for intimate elopements and micro weddings. Pinterest is an amazing platform for targeting multiple keywords and different locations as a photographer, so I began by outlining a keyword strategy for both NC and NYC, along with keywords that specifically related to her photography style, like documentary photography, editorial photography, warm and moody, etc.
Next, I included her location-based keywords across her profile, boards, and board descriptions and began pinning! Lauren started to blog more about the NYC sessions she had already booked, so we focused on pinning those galleries specifically. I leaned into vertical images, integrating more collages and graphics to showcase her work in new ways.
After just 5 months of working together, Lauren received her first inquiry from Pinterest! She stuck it through some rocky analytics as we navigated through the holiday slump, saw huge growth in January 2024, and received an elopement inquiry in March 2024!
Just a couple months later, she got her first inquiry for NYC!
Since then, we’ve seen her impressions increase, website traffic has increased 10X, and engagement has skyrocketed!
Here’s a look at her Pinterest analytics before we began working together:
And after!
Now, Lauren has a more engaged audience on Pinterest, is reaching new potential leads and building her audience, and is driving more traffic to her website, impacting her overall SEO. You can’t get much better than that!
Don’t take my word for it – hear Lauren describe her experience being one of my Pinterest Management clients:
