Most businesses know they should start a blog for business, but few understand the real return on investment and benefits blogging can bring them. They think it takes too much time, doesn’t drive results, or is irrelevant now that AI is a thing.
I’m here to bust that myth and say that a well-executed blog strategy gives you real results measured in traffic, trust, client acquisition, and revenue. If you’re not already running a blog for business, you’re missing out on a powerful marketing opportunity. If you still need to be convinced why a blog is important, keep reading!
This is the biggest one (which is why it’s number one 😉). Each blog should be optimized for a keyword, which means the more blogs you post, the more keywords you are likely to rank for. And the more keywords you rank for, the more times your website appears in search results. You’re giving yourself a better chance of new potential clients finding you in search results when you consistently write blogs for your business.
Google also loves when websites post fresh, new content that follows E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.) It doesn’t want to see low-quality, AI-written content. Search engines want to give their users the best search results. You’re more likely to rank if you write valuable, high-quality, and thorough content.
I’m a big advocate for building your business organically, and blogging is one of the best ways to do so.
Your blog for business establishes authority, credibility, and expertise. You’re proving that you know your stuff by writing about topics in your industry and niche. Case studies, how-to guides, and personal experience show potential customers you’re an expert in your field.
Plus, when you stay consistent with blogging, you build brand credibility. People trust that you’ll show up and provide value.
The more people come to your website, the more likely they are to inquire (especially since your SEO strategy is sending the right people to your website 😉). It’s just simple statistics!
Every visitor to your website and reader of your blog is an opportunity to convert them to clients. Just make sure to provide clear calls to action, such as linking to your contact page, newsletter, freebies, or other relevant offers.
Since blogs are long-form content, they are super easy to repurpose on other platforms! You have a lot to work with, so get creative in reusing content you’ve already created. It saves you time and provides value to your audience.
Here are some ways you can repurpose blog content!
Literally so many ways to repurpose blog content!
This is a great opportunity to connect with your audience and tell them what you think about certain topics. Again, it goes beyond the content on your main website pages.
You can talk about whatever you want related to your business on your blog. Want to be controversial? Go for it. Want to talk about a hot topic? Do it. Want to tell a story? Tie it to a business topic and write it!
You can speak your mind, which helps your audience get to know you better. A simple business blog can spark the kind of conversations your audience actually wants to have.
Blogging is a long-term strategy. You won’t get instant gratification, but you’ll see traffic from one optimized blog post for YEARS. And as a slow growth advocate, I think that’s worth it! I’d much rather put my effort into something that will pay off later on than content that will “expire” in literally five minutes. My best-performing blog post was published in 2023. I still get consistent traffic from it two years later! Don’t underestimate the power of long-term growth strategies.
I hate to break it to you, but blogging is no longer optional. It’s the best and fastest way to grow on search engines. Make it a goal to write one blog this month! Start slow, but stay consistent. You’ll start to see all these benefits of having a blog for business growth!
As a Pinterest manager, I LOVE it when businesses have an active and consistent blog. It gives me tons of content to work with! Pinterest and blogging are the perfect duo to drive qualified traffic to your website. Once you start blogging consistently, let’s get you on Pinterest! Schedule a discovery call when you’re ready!
Blogging is a long game, and it will take a few months of consistent effort to start seeing results. However, traffic from blogging compounds over time. Some of my best-performing blogs were published over a year ago!
Consistency is most important. Pick a schedule you can stick to, whether that’s once a month or once a week.
It depends on your time and skillset. A lot of businesses benefit from outsourcing because blogging does take a lot of time and strategy!
Share them with your email list and on social media! Repurpose the content as much as you can.
Search engines actually don’t care how long blog posts are! Focus on thoroughly explaining the topic, no matter how many words it takes. My blogs usually end up between 1,000-1,200 words!
Some links across my website may be affiliate links, meaning I receive a portion of any sales made through them. I never recommend any product or service that I don't wholeheartedly believe in and use in my own business.
I love supporting you with free resources like this! Keep the creativity going and throw some caffeine my way if you want 😉
